Application data (accounts, contributions, uploaded photos) is stored on MongoDB Atlas (MongoDB, Inc.), on servers located in the United States (AWS us-east-1, Virginia).

Flanbo Ayiti is an independent, non-governmental platform for exploring, mapping and imagining Haiti's development. It is neither an official body nor an institutional publication: nothing on the site binds any administration, company or organisation mentioned.

The site's design, texts, interface and original illustrations are the property of the publisher, save where a different licence is stated. Reproduction of a substantial part without prior authorisation is prohibited; short quotations with a link back to the source page are welcome.

Third-party data, map layers, media and game assets remain the property of their authors and are used under their own licences, listed on the data sources page.

"Flanbo Peyim", "Flanbo Ayiti" and the torch logo identify the site; they may not be reused in a way that suggests an affiliation or an endorsement that does not exist.

Registered users may submit activities, projects, places and photographs. By submitting content, you state that you hold the necessary rights and you grant the publisher a free, non-exclusive licence to display it on the site and its map for as long as it is published.

Photographs submitted by non-administrator users are reviewed before publication. The publisher may edit, refuse or withdraw any contribution, in particular one that is unlawful, off-topic, misleading or infringes third-party rights.

To report a content problem — an error, a rights issue, a project or video you would like removed — write to flanbopeyim@gmail.com or use the contact form. Reports are handled promptly.

The publisher is the controller for the personal data processed by the site, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act. What follows is a summary; the full detail — purposes, legal bases, retention, recipients — is in the privacy policy. The site collects only what it needs to work:

• Account — name, e-mail address and/or phone number, password (stored hashed, never in clear), optional avatar. Purpose: creating and using your account. Basis: performance of the service you asked for. Kept until you delete your account.
• Contact form — name, e-mail address, message. Purpose: answering you. Basis: your request. Kept for up to 12 months after the exchange ends.
• Contributions — activities, places, photos and applications you submit, kept with the account that submitted them for as long as they are published.
• Page-view statistics — aggregated in-house: one counter per page and per day. No identifier, no IP address, no cookie, no third-party analytics service.
• Business profile statistics — visits to a published business profile are counted for its owner. A daily fingerprint derived from your IP address and browser is stored instead of the address itself, only to avoid counting the same visitor twice; it changes every day and differs per business. Owners see totals, never visitor identities. Kept for 180 days.

Your data is never sold, rented or transferred for advertising purposes. It is accessible only to the publisher and to the technical providers needed to run the site (hosting, database), who act on instructions.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to its processing. Exercise these rights at flanbopeyim@gmail.com; most of them can also be exercised directly from your account. If you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr).

The site uses no advertising or audience-measurement cookie, and therefore displays no consent banner. Only two strictly necessary items are stored:

• flanbo_session — keeps you signed in. Set only when you log in, expires after 7 days, and is removed when you log out.
• NEXT_LOCALE — remembers whether you chose English or French.

YouTube videos are embedded through youtube-nocookie.com: nothing is stored by YouTube until you actually start playback.

The site links to external pages (sources, YouTube channels, institutional sites) and embeds videos hosted by their authors. The publisher has no control over these and accepts no responsibility for their content, which remains subject to the terms of the platforms concerned.

Videos are always attributed to the channel that produced them and link back to it. Being listed on the site does not mean the creator endorses the projects shown, nor that the site endorses the creator.

Information is published in good faith and checked as far as reasonably possible, but it may be incomplete, out of date or wrong — in particular map boundaries, risk layers and prospective projects, which are illustrative. It must not be used as the sole basis for an investment, planning or safety decision.

The publisher endeavours to keep the site available but gives no guarantee of continuous access, and may interrupt it for maintenance or updates without notice.

This legal notice is governed by French law. Any dispute relating to the site will be brought before the competent French courts, failing an amicable settlement.
